Sudoku - Scan, Solve, Play Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the Sudoku - Scan, Solve, Play app (the "App"), created by thinkpoet (the "Service Provider", "we", or "us"), handles your information. The App is a free service, provided "as is". We keep data collection to a minimum.
In short
- There is no account or sign-in — we do not ask for your name, email, or other personal details.
- Photos you take to scan a puzzle are processed entirely on your device and are not uploaded to us or anyone else.
- The App shows ads through Google AdMob, which collects certain data to deliver and measure those ads.
- The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the App is used (anonymous usage statistics).
- In the EEA and UK, ads and analytics run only with your consent, which you can change any time under Settings → Privacy options.
- Your settings and game progress are stored locally on your device.
Processed on your device (not collected by us)
- Camera & photos. When you scan a puzzle, the App uses your camera — or a photo you choose from your gallery — to recognise the digits. This image processing happens entirely on your device; the image is used only to read the puzzle and is not sent to us or to any server.
- Settings & progress. Your preferences (theme, language, "show only legal digits") and your daily-streak progress are stored locally on your device. If you have Android Backup enabled, Android may back this data up to your Google account; that is controlled by your device settings, not by us.
Collected through ads (Google AdMob)
The App displays ads using Google AdMob. To deliver, measure, and — where applicable — personalise ads, Google and its partners may collect and process information such as:
- a mobile advertising identifier (Advertising ID);
- your IP address and the approximate (coarse) location derived from it;
- device and app information; and
- your interactions with ads.
We do not control this collection and do not receive this information in a form that identifies you. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's own policies:
Note: the App does not request location permission and does not access your device's GPS location.
Collected for analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how players use the App so we can improve it. This collects pseudonymous usage data such as:
- an app-instance identifier generated by the analytics SDK (not linked to your real-world identity);
- app events and interactions — for example, that a puzzle was solved or scanned, the difficulty, and how long it took;
- basic device and app information (such as device model, operating-system version, and app version); and
- approximate (coarse) region derived from your IP address.
This data is used in aggregate to measure engagement and retention. We do not use it to identify you personally. Google processes it as described in Privacy and Security in Firebase and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Consent (EEA and UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, when you first open the App we ask for your consent before using ads and analytics, via a Google-certified consent message. If you decline, we do not collect data for personalised advertising or analytics, and any ads shown are non-personalised. You can review or change your choice at any time in the App under Settings → Privacy options.
Your choices
- You can reset your Advertising ID or opt out of ad personalisation at any time in your device settings (on Android: Settings → Google → Ads).
- Depending on your region, you may be asked to provide or manage consent for personalised advertising.
- You can stop all data collection by uninstalling the App. Uninstalling also removes the settings and progress stored on your device.
Data sharing
We do not sell your information. Data collected for advertising is processed by Google AdMob as described above. We may disclose information if required by law (for example, to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process) or when we believe in good faith it is necessary to protect rights, safety, or to investigate fraud.
Children
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information, please contact us at thinkpoet8@gmail.com and we will take appropriate action.
Data retention & deletion
Settings and progress remain on your device until you clear the app's data or uninstall the App. For any question or request relating to your data, contact us at thinkpoet8@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Security
We use reasonable physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards appropriate to the limited data the App handles. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the date below. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
